Thieves flee, abandon crony as police foil car theft in Allman Town
A brazen early morning car theft attempt in Allman Town, Kingston ended with one man arrested today after a police patrol surprised some theives in the act, forcing them to flee under the sound of gunfire and abandon one of their accomplices.
The incident occurred sometime after 4:00 a.m. at the corner of Great George Street and Sarah Street, where reports indicate that two men were attempting to steal a Toyota Probox by prying open the front door.
Police say the men were startled when officers on patrol arrived at the scene. The suspects then escaped in a motor vehicle, leaving behind one of their cronies as shots were fired.
The abandoned man, who is reportedly from another section of Allman Town, was arrested and taken into police custody. Investigations into the incident are continuing.
The Allman Town police are now actively pursuing leads to identify and locate the second suspect who managed to flee the scene.
