JCA orders replay

October 07, 2015

Preseason favourites Melbourne and St Thomas CA will meet again in the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) 50-Overs Tournament after a ruling by the JCA Appeals Panel ordered a replay of their opening round clash.

The ruling, which was officially handed down yesterday, saw the Appeals Panel siding with St Thomas, who following the contest which Melbourne won by seven wickets, complained to the JCA that Melbourne failed to abide by the rules of proper sight screens.

The Melbourne sight screen was blue but tournament playing conditions stipulate that it should be black."An initial complaint was made by St Thomas, and the Competitions and Complaints Committee of the JCA ruled that the result should stand," explained JCA secretary, Fritz Harris.

"However, St Thomas appealed the decision, and the Appeals Panel found favour, guided by the conditions of play, which clearly state that the sight screen should be black, and ruled that the match be replayed."The match, therefore, is to be replayed this Saturday, which should have been the weekend of quarterfinals, and the quarterfinals be pushed back to next weekend."
