INNSWOOD High and Denham Town will meet in a top clash in the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/FLOW Manning Cup football competition Group C at Chedwin Park in St Catherine, today, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Innswood leads the group on 22 points from nine games, ahead of St George's College and Denham Town - on 19 points apiece. However, St George's have a superior goal difference.

Also in the group but out of contention are Ardenne (12), Eltham (6) and KTHS - without a point.

Innswood will enter the game aware that a win will cement top spot in the group and a berth in the next round as well as the lucrative FLOW Super Cup and Walker Cup competitions.

very important

Coach, Anthony Thompson, said it is an important game for both teams.

"This game is very important for both teams. We just don't want to lose. Winning the game will secure top spot for us, and that would mean we finish ahead of George's." he told STAR Sports yesterday.

Thompson will look to players such as Malik Beckford, Shawn Beckford and Shamar Guthrie for maximum points.

Omar Edwards of Denham Town is confident of winning.

"We are really optimistic of our chance. We lost (2-3) to Innswood at home in the first round because of goalkeeping error, but we have reshuffled the team around. Since, then we have been playing better. "

"The win against George's will certainly be a morale boost," he added.

In another game, STGC should get the better of lowly Eltham and qualify for the next round.

Teams already assured of spots in the next round of the Manning Cup are defending champions Jamaica College, Hydel, Charlie Smith, Holy Trinity, Wolmer's, St Jago and Kingston College.
