Supersonic B, JPS win in club league table tennis

Supersonic B drubbed hosts Duhaney Park 4-1 at Duhaney Park Centre and Jamaica Public Service (JPS) trounced visitors Blue Diamond All-Stars 4-1 at Ruthven Road in the latest two division two matches in the Insports/Table Tennis Jamaica National Club League.

Both matches belong to group one and the two winners are now tied atop the standings on 11 points apiece.

They are followed by Duhaney Park and Blue Diamond All-Stars who are tied on five points each. JPS and Supersonic B have completed their fixtures while the other two teams each have a match remaining against each other.

The top-two finishers will progress to the semi-finals and JPS and Supersonic B are in unassailable positions to advance.

In individual results in the Supersonic B/Duhaney Park contest, Alphanso Murray, Marlon Alberts and Jordan Campbell all scored easy 3-0 singles match wins over Cordell Atkinson, Gary Catnott and Camoy Catnott (Gary's son) respectively, for Supersonic B.

In doubles, Murray and Alberts overwhelmed Miguel Sterling and Jermaine Myers 3-0, for Supersonic B's four triumphs. Sterling won by default over George Gordon, for Duhaney Park's consolation victory.

In the JPS versus Blue Diamond encounter, Tyrone Gordon crushed Nicholas Morrison 3-0, Keith Garvey overpowered Patrick Gabbidon 3-0 and Brandon Waugh won by default, in singles match triumphs for JPS.

Garvey and Gordon strolled past Gabbidon and Joel Graham 3-0, for JPS' fourth win. Graham trounced Kemar Thomas 3-0 to pull one back for Blue Diamond All-Stars.

The league continues today with University of the West Indies

hosting Jamaica Defence Force at 2 p.m. in the Students' Union Hall in division one, and Duhaney Park entertaining Blue Diamond All-Stars at the Duhaney Park Centre at 6 p.m. in division two.
