Gleaner, Emancipation Park advance to table tennis semifinals
The Gleaner Company and Emancipation Park advanced to the semi-finals of the Insports/Table Tennis Jamaica National Club League division two league.
In the group three top-of-the-table clash, Emancipation Park drubbed Gleaner Company 4-1.
Emancipation Park finished on top of the group with seven points, ahead of Gleaner, second on six points.
Both teams progressed to semi-finals, ahead of Supersonic A, who failed to advance, on five points.
These two teams join the other four semi-finalists Supersonic B and Jamaica Public Service (JPS) from group one, and University of the West Indies (UWI) and Swallowfield Chapel Smashers from group two.
These six semi-finalists will play-off against one advancing team from Clarendon and two from Portland, in early January to determine the overall division two champions.
In individual results, Courtney Hall crushed Wayne Lyew 3-0 (11-4, 11-7, 11-9), Ronaldo Brown trounced Gareth Segree 3-0 (11-7, 11-7, 11-8) and Alecia Bennett turned back Carol Denny 3-1 (8-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7), in singles match wins for Emancipation Park.
Hall and George Gallimore nipped Lyew and Selvin Smith 3-2 (9-11, 11-6, 11-9, 9-11, 11-9) in doubles, for Emancipation Park's fourth victory.
Smith overcame Orane Fields 3-1 (13-11, 8-11, 11-4, 11-3) to pull one back for Gleaner.
