Morgan shortlisted for CONCACAF Player of the Year

December 17, 2016
England-born Wes Morgan

Jamaica Reggae Boyz captain Wes Morgan has signed a sponsorship deal with rum company Captain Morgan.

Fans around the world will be able to toast the Leicester City defender with a limited edition Captain Morgan bottle with his picture on the label.

Morgan was a rock in defence for Leicester last season, as he led the team to the English Premier League title by winning the competition 10 points ahead of second placed Arsenal.

Best team

Morgan will be helping to promote, and judge, the Captain Morgan's new #CelebrateLikeTheCaptain campaign, which calls on football teams to perform and upload goal celebrations to win monthly prizes, culminating in an end of season trip to Jamaica for the best team.

Meanwhile, Morgan is one of just two Jamaicans shortlisted for awards at the fourth-annual CONCACAF awards.

Wes Morgan has been short-listed for the CONCACAF player of the year award and faces stiff competition from Ryan Ruiz of Guatemala, Clint Dempsey of the United States, Javier Hernandez of Mexico and Kaylor Navas of Costa Rica.

Nominated

Assistant referee Princess Brown is the other Jamaican on the shortlist of nominees.

She is nominated for the female referee of the year award.

The CONCACAF awards honor players and achievements in CONCACAF-sanctioned tournaments and competitions involving the confederation's national teams at all levels.

This includes FIFA World Cups and World Cup qualifying for both genders, in all age categories.
