Rudisha looks forward to Jamaican experience

David Rudisha, the world record holder over 800m, said that he is happy to be in Jamaica for the JN Racers Grand Prix set for the National Stadium this Saturday, but is also keen to experience the island's culture.

"I'm looking forward and I know I'm gonna experience a lot," he told STAR Sports. "Hopefully, before I go back, I'm looking forward to have more experiences about Jamaica."

"This is my first time here, I'm really excited. Jamaica is one of the countries which is very famous in Africa because of its tradition and reggae, and I'm happy to come here on this big occasion to celebrate our great hero Usain Bolt."

The Kenyan said that he is also looking to improve on his form, as his only race so far this season was at the Shanghai leg of the IAAF Diamond League.

Always improving

"My form is good and I've been doing some build up" he said. "I'm looking forward because I'm always improving on my training and my main aim is World Championships. Every time I compete I always want to improve my time, to better my time because that's what matters at the end of the day."

The Olympic and World Championship gold medallist is expected to line up in the 800m event against fellow Kenyans Willy Tarbei and Edwin Melly and Jamaicans Sadiki White and Daniel Glave.

Rudisha has won two Olympic and two World Championships gold medals.

He has only competed once so far this season, finishing fourth in the 800m at the Shanghai Diamond League meet in mid-May in a time of 1:45.36.
