STETHS, CC lock horns in Ben Francis Cup

Manchester High is set to host the epic clash in the semi-finals of the ISSA/FLOW Ben Francis Knockout Competition between six-time champions St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) and Clarendon College (CC) at 2:30pm

STETHS have their eyes set on reclaiming the title this year, and head coach Omar 'Rambo' Wedderburn is focused on playing a tactical game using CC's strengths against them. He noted that they are calm and confident going into the game, with pure positive thoughts.

"We are remaining calm and confident as usual. It is said you'll always fall short if you don't know your opponent's strengths and weaknesses. So one of the things we try to do is to know these things so we will know how to attack them. With all due respect, I think they are a quality team and going up against such a team, one needs positive thinking, so we are all set," said Wedderburn.

Clarendon College is the only team that still holds a 100 percent win record to date, but coach Byjeon Thomas does not believe this will matter in a knockout at the semi-finals. He said that they just focused on playing a game of good football, pulling out all the stops to win against a team that is usually at their best this deep in the competition.

"I definitely agree with the statement of pulling out all the stops to win the game as STETHS have been playing good football, so on the day I wouldn't say there is a favorite as it is a semi-final. We just want to go out and play 90 minutes of good football and hope to come out with the win," said Thomas.

The other semi-final will see Dinthill Technical meeting Rusea's High at 3:30 pm.

If the scores in today's games are level at full-time, extra-time of 10 minutes per half will be played, followed by penalties if necessary.
