Captain of Jamaica's senior netball team, Jhaneile Fowler, believes that the Sunshine Girls' 3-0 series win over rivals England Roses is a major phycological boost for the national side ahead of next year's Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England.

The Sunshine Girls, who were beaten by one goal in the semi-final of this year's Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, recorded an impressive 58-43 win in the final game of the series at the National Indoor Sports Centre to sweep the visitors.

The Jamaicans, who dominated the series, won the opening game 55-43, before clinching the series 58-39 in the second encounter.

"It is a massive booster because we know what we are capable of, and just to see that we put it out there on court this entire series and also in the Trinidad and Tobago series was just so amazing," said Fowler, who is rated as the top goal shooter in the world.

"I know that come World Cup, we are going to be good, because we played so much games back to back and so, this was just a test for us," he said.

NEED TO IMPROVE

Fowler, who plied her trade in the Australian Suncorp Super League competition last season, added that they still have a number of areas that they need to improve on ahead of next year's tournament.

"We have a lot of room to improve on and we are definitely going back to the drawing board and watch the clips of these games and see where we went wrong and what we need to tighten up on going forward," said Fowler, while adding that she was not totally pleased with her performance inside the shooting circle.

"I think I could have done a lot better in terms of being more stronger inside the circle and missing a lot less shots inside the circle, but I am pretty pleased with my performance, because I am coming off a hectic season in Australia," she said.
