Mile Gully looking to create more history

Baron 'Barry' Watson, coach of Mile Gully High, says his school's win over defending champions Rusea's High in the ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup, will serve as a confidence booster as they seek to create more history in this year's competition.
Mile Gully will be looking to pick up crucial points against Maggotty High School at the Manchester High School grounds in the lone daCosta Cup quarter-final fixture today. Both teams are without a point in Group 1 after one game. The other teams in the group are Frome Technical and Port Antonio High with three points each.
Despite going down 1-0 to Port Antonio High in their first match of the quarterfinal round at Carder Park on Tuesday, Watson still believes they can advance further in the competition.
"We are giving it our best shot. This is the first time the school is reaching the quarterfinals and there was no better way to get here than to knock out the defending champions. With that win and the entire Manchester behind us I believe that we can continue to create more history," said Watson.

"Early in the preliminary round of the competition, BB Coke beat us and we saw that it would be hard to finish in second place. We looked at the situation, calculated it and saw that winning all our games from there would give us 20 points to go through. When we won our fifth game I started to believe, also the youths started to believe in themselves and decided that they wanted to create history," said Watson reflecting on how they got this far.
"When we got Rusea's, that's number 32 versus number one, we said to ourselves 'we don't have anything to lose more than to try and create some history'. We went there played well and created history," he added.
