Despite guiding his team to a convincing 4-0 demolition of Manchester High on Saturday in their ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup quarter-final, Clarendon College (CC) coach Lenworth 'Lenny' Hyde believes his team has room for improvement.

The experienced coach is looking to get his boys to become more ruthless and clinical in managing games, and also pointed to better ball possession as an area that needs attention.

Lamar Walker (42nd minute), Kenroy Stoddard (47th), Roderick Granville (85th) and Nicque Daley (90 +1) got the goals for CC, who are now clear leaders atop the Group Two standings.

"I think the most important thing is that defensively, we played well and the goalkeeper was good also. We have been scoring goals so that's the norm for the team, but I think we could have possessed the ball a lot more. I think we turned over the ball on many occasions where we should have kept our composure..." said Hyde.

"It's a good result against a good team and I think our team is maturing at the right time. We are understanding how to play. We know the task at hand is going to be tough, so we just have to maintain our focus and keep working hard," he added.

BOTHSTEPPEDUP

Walker, a national Under-20 representative, has been pulling the strings in the midfield for CC, and, on Saturday, he took his tally to eight goals this season.

Hyde, who noted that he was impressed by the responsibility shown by his key players, Walker and Daley, who he said have both stepped up in big games this season, is further expecting Walker in particular to manage the team's tempo and possession at an improved level.

"It was in and out. Sometimes he (Walker) is involved in the game and then at times he is out, but anytime he pops up, it's always dangerous to the opponent. Anytime he decides to put his head down and play, he always produces for us, which he has been doing all season," said Hyde.

"So we just have to try to get him to play more relaxed. I'm not restricting him, but he has to learn and know the professionalism that is always required of him in the team," he added.
