Kingston College's (KC) head coach, Ludlow Bernard, said they will be taking a cautious approach when they meet St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) in today's big semi-final clash in the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup competition at the National Stadium starting at 3 p.m.

In the second match of the double-header at 5 p.m., defending champions Jamaica College will battle rivals St George's College.

Today's encounter between KC and STATHS is a repeat of last year's semi-final, where the latter came out on top 2-1 winners.

However, Bernard, told STAR Sports that he is optimistic entering today's game and that his boys are looking forward to giving a good account of themselves.

"We are playing against a very strong team, but there seems to be some amount of unpredictability and, so we are taking our chances and are approaching the occasion with some amount of caution," said Bernard.

"We want to make sure that we play our cards right for the game and hopefully, at the end of the day, we will be victorious," he said.

VERY UPBEAT

The North Street-based institution has not won the competition since 1986, and, according to Bernard, they are very determined to get into the final this year.

"The boys have been very upbeat and are looking forward to the contest because what transpired last year is very fresh in the minds," said Bernard. "I think we have a comfortable and confident set of players that are coming to play some good football and football that will enable them to win the contest."

The Purples will be depending heavily on the likes of Dwayne Atkinson, Trevone Reid, Ari Rodgers, Renato Campbell, Ronaldo Robinson, and Jahmari Morrison.

Meanwhile, STATHS, who are coming off a 5-0 defeat to St George's College in the quarter-finals of the Champions Cup competition in their last competitive game, will welcome the return of their inspirational captain Jeadin White, from overseas duties with the national Under-20 team.

Phillip Williams, coach of the STATHS, said his team is very upbeat ahead of today's semi-final clash.

"We have to nullify how KC moves the ball around and mark our opponents on every possession. We know that it is going to be a very tough game but we are mentally and physically ready for it," Williams said.

Along with White, STATHS, who last won the competition in 1987, will be looking, to Warner Brown, Ackeem Brown and Anthony Nelson to lead their efforts.
