Veteran midfielder Jermaine 'Teddy' Johnson has expressed delight after he netted his first goal of season to help Tivoli Gardens to 1-1 draw against Mount Pleasant in their Red Stripe Premier League encounter at Drax Hall on Sunday.

The 38-year-old, Johnson, who has recently recovered from a knee injury, netted from the penalty spot in the 80th minute after his team had fell behind to a Sue-Lae McCalla's 61st minute strike.

Johnson told Star Sports that Sunday's goal has helped to take a lot of pressure off his shoulders and he is now looking forward to scoring a lot more goals this season.

"It is always a good feeling when you score your first goal of the season, but we have a lot more games to go and I am looking forward to scoring a lot more goals and help the team win this competition," said Johnson.

"This (goal) has eased a lot of pressure off me because when you are playing, you always want to score goals and help your team win games," he said.

"I think when you are not scoring is always a problem and so I got my first one of the season and so I am really happy right now," said Johnson, who was the competition's leading scorer in the 2015-16 season with 16 goals.

However, injury forced Johnson to miss a lot of games last season, which saw him scoring six goals while helping Tivoli to reach the quarterfinals of the competition.

Tivoli are currently seventh in the standings on 22 points and Johnson added that they still have a lot of work to do if they are going to challenge for the title this season.

"My ambition is for us to win the league and help the younger players to develop and this will intern help the club to get better," said Johnson.

"It is bad when you are out of the play-off position, but we still have loads of games to go and we just need to keep working and follow the coaches instruction."
