Andrew Peart, head coach of Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) side UWI FC, said, like his counterparts at Montego Bay United, Dunbeholden FC and Arnett Gardens FC, he will be aggressively pursuing a striker when the transfer window opens on January 1.

UWI, who are seventh in the standings with 24 points, have scored 17 goals, while conceding 19.

Ryan Miller, Anthony Grant and Patrick Brown are the joint leading scorers so far for UWI this season, with three goals each.

Peart told STAR Sports that they will have to start scoring a lot more goals if they are going to make it into the play-offs of the RSPL.

"We are not scoring a lot of goals as we would like to and that is the main area of concern for us," said Peart, who whose team was beaten 2-0 by Tivoli Gardens in their last encounter on Sunday.

REAL RESEARCH

"However, the thing is, getting players who are proven scorers is hard in the league, so we have to do some real research on this before we make a move," he said.

"This is a concern for us, but one of the good things is that we have been getting goals from all over, so that is a plus there," Peart said. "I hope that this will continue, and if we do get a striker who can score goals consistently, then that will be a bonus for us," he said.

Peart noted that despite his team's seventh place in the standings, he is very optimistic that they can make it into the top six.

"I think that we are happy with the team, because we are not playing badly despite our position in the league, so we just need to start scoring more goals," Peart said.
