Cavalier ready to test league leaders

January 04, 2019

Cavalier's midfielder Nicholas Hamilton is expecting a tough encounter when his side face league leaders Waterhouse in their Red Stripe Premier League Monday night contest at the Drewsland Mini Stadium.

Cavalier are third in the standings on 31 points, three behind Waterhouse in the table. Portmore United are second in the table on 33 points.

Hamilton told Star Sports that they are looking forward to Monday night's encounter because his teammates are expecting a pulsating contest from the Waterhouse team.

"The players are very confident because we worked very hard during the Christmas break and so we are confident going into this game on Monday night against Waterhouse," said Hamilton.

PLAYING WELL

"I know that Waterhouse is a very good team and they are best team in the competition now because they are at top of the top and so we just have go out there and work hard and do what we have to do win the game," he said.

He added that they have been playing well in the second round compared to the previous round and he is hoping that they can carry over this form into this game.

"We are feeling good about ourselves, but I think that we should have gathered more points so far in the competition. We are thankful that we are just three points off the leaders Waterhouse," he said.

Hamilton, who is a former Holy Trinity Manning Cup standout, has netted five goals in the competition and he said he hopes to score a lot more before the season ends.

"My aim at the start of the season was to score 15 goals and so I have reached five so far and I just have to continue working and try to reach my target," Hamilton said.

Match time is 8:35 p.m.
