KSAFA Super, Major Leagues near start

The much anticipated 2019 Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Super and Major League competitions are scheduled to begin on January 19, this according to Wayne Shaw, president of the association.

Shaw told STAR Sports that both competitions were originally scheduled to start in November, but they were pushed back, as his association was still in negotiation with the sponsors. One of these is last year's title sponsors Magnum, with whom Shaw said talks are going well.

"We are also in negotiations with the Jamaica Football Federation about the changing of the format of the competition and that was what also held up the competitions," Shaw said.

Shaw said that despite the delayed start of the competition, he is expecting competitive and exciting championships.

"The delay will not affect the competitions because we are just going to cut out the cross zone matches, so we will finish in time for the Premier League play-offs," Shaw said.

"This season will be a successful one and it will be very competitive with teams like Boys' Town, Barbican, Molynes United, and Constant Spring, who were promoted last year. It should be very exciting championships," he said.

Shaw said that all the teams have been training very hard and everyone is fired up for the start of the both competitions.

Barbican were the winners of last season's Super league, while Constant Spring won the Major League competition.
