For the first time in his fours seasons in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL), Cavalier forward Nicholas 'Kumi' Hamilton has netted eight goals in one campaign.

His previous best was five goals during the 2017-2018 season, and the striker put his more consistent goalscoring form down to living a more disciplined lifestyle off the field of play."No, I have never done that (score eight in a season). So I am more consistent this season because most of the things I used to do, I have stopped. I don't do them no more. I train a lot harder now and I don't go out that often again, so I am just focused on football alone.

"In football, there are a lot of youngsters playing, 22, 23 years old. So I have to know what I am doing and see what I can get out of it. This is my fourth year in the league and I am getting mature because I am getting used to the top-flight Jamaican ball game, and I am used to most of the players and I know how they play and how to get around them," he explained.

Hamilton and Alex Marshall continue to lead the team in scoring with eight goals each.

"I feel real glad about my contribution as a lot of people didn't expect me to do it, but I have worked very hard and the hard work in training is now coming out in the games. My target was 15 goals at the start of the season and I will try to get there by this round. Then after this round I will try to score some more goals in the play-offs," he commented.

The former Holy Trinity forward is now hoping he can continue his good form and earn himself a national call up. "That's the most important thing, that's number one priority, to get call up. Everyone wants to represent their country, all in me is to represent my country and do well for my team. So the aim is to win the league and stay on top. We just have to continue to do what we are doing and listen to the coaches and remain humble.

"We can go all the way, because when we go out on a matchday we are a team that can beat any team. We just have to go out and do the right things and we can win this league. I am pleased how I am playing, but not satisfied. I still want to keep my performance up and continue working hard," he added.
