Georges Plain FC upset overwhelming favourites Petersfield FC with a shock 1-0 defeat to take the Westmoreland Football Association /Dujon’s Construction Major league title at the Landilo Sports Complex on Labour Day.

Kenneth Smith, coach of Georges Plain, praised his team for handing Petersfield their first loss of the season.

“Our team put in a splendid performance. This is a bunch of guys who listen and we came out for it. Every team has us as a soft team but the guys listen to us and we pull it off,” said Smith, whose time has now advanced to the Super League for next season.

“We have to go to the drawing board and put in some hard work to see where we can take this team. We are looking forward to getting some more talented players in the squad. We are a team that opens our doors to young players because we are looking forward to a good run in the super league,” Smith said.
