Portmore United were supposed to beat the newly promoted team into submission but clearly Molynes didn't get the memo or they got the memo and tore it up in front of their faces. A 3-0 win against the champs? Not a bad way to start life in the league.

It is already looking up for Andrew Peart after registering a win in the season opener, something he failed to do last year. He should also be pleased that debutants Thorn Simpson and Devonte Stewart who got on the scoring sheet.

The boys from Clarendon showed their resilience, a quality they will have to display often in order to return to play-off football, by coming back from a goal down to beat Arnett Gardens 3-1 at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, a feat they have not achieved since December 2015. New coach Andrew Price is beaming with joy.

Technical Director Rudolph Speid said he wasn't pleased with his side's preseason preparations. A high turnover rate prevented and other factors hampered their training sessions in the summer. But their opening win on Sunday will surely make things a little easier.

He was again shown the door, this time at Mount Pleasant as owner Peter Gould said that he is tired of the excuses.

When the defending champions lost to a promoted team, it looks bad. But Portmore dealt with this ordeal well last season when they were beaten by Mount Pleasant at the Spanish Town Prison Oval and recovered to win the regular season and the play-offs.

Alex Thomas's first game in charge of his old club went well for the first 60 seconds and then went all wrong the next 89 minutes. He is hoping to turn the tide against Tivoli Gardens on Sunday but another defeat may put him at odds with the fans.

After failing to make the play-offs last season, Tivoli were crushed 4-0 in their opener. It is reported that they also didn't have their preferred players registered in time for the first game, but they are not making excuses. Sunday's game against Arnett will provide the best opportunity to show what they are made of as they will be playing in their first home game since the passing of their president Edward Seaga.
