Chairman of Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) Solomon Sharpe says he is expecting experienced Panamanian top jockey Dick Cardenas to return with a bang tomorrow.

Cardenas, who last rode in Jamaica in the 2019 season, was a runner-up in the Jockeys Championships in 2018 to Anthony Thomas with 85 winners. Thomas, who was winning his first jockey's title, recorded 96 winners to lift the championship trophy.

"He has some live rides on Saturday, and so it should be a very interesting day," said Sharpe.

"It is also good to see our former champion jockeys and our former stars riding at the park," he said.

"Dick Cardenas coming back will add a lot of flavour because he has ridden the likes of MARK MY WORD to Triple Crown and Supertakes wins, and he is a fan favourite," said Sharpe.

He underscored that Cardenas had proven to be a top-class jockey over the years, and so younger riders will learn a lot from him during the races.

"He is very light, so he can ride from 46 kilos right up to 57 kilos, and so he should get some interesting rides, and it should make the race meets become very interesting going forward," said Sharpe.

"Some of the younger riders potentially stand to learn something from him while riding in a race with him."
