Reid fires Fulham into fourth round of FA Cup
National striker Bobby Reid made the difference for his English Premier League (EPL) team Fulham as he was on target in their 2-0 win over English Championship side Queen's Park Rangers (QPR) in a third-round FA Cup tie at Loftus Road on Saturday.
The Cottagers needed extra time after the match ended 0-0 in regulation, but Reid, who came on in the 67th minute, finally broke through QPR's stiff resistance in the 104th minute, scoring his sixth goal in all competitions this season. Substitute Neeskens Kebano secured the victory in stoppage time of the first half of the extra session.
Reid had his moments to take the initiative when he came on. Midfielder Joe Bryan's cross managed to find Reid, but his guided header rolled past QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng.
Great one-two combination
Fulham finally took the lead as the first half of extra time came to a close. After a great one-two combination with striker Aleksander Mitrovic, Reid's low shot from outside the box fired into the bottom corner to put the away side up in this battle of two London rivals.
Reid was involved in the second goal a minute later when he found Josh Onomah, who slipped in Kebano to fire home from close range in the bottom corner. Club and national teammate Michael Hector also featured in the win as a second-half substitute, replacing Terence Kongolo. Hector has made a difficult start to his first season in the English top-flight, only making four league appearances this season so far. He started in the League cup competition making two appearances, which included him captaining the side in their round-of-16 loss to Championship outfit Brentford last October.
The draw for the fourth round of the FA Cup will take place today. Fulham, who are currently in 18th place in the EPL with games in hand, return to their league schedule on Friday with a home derby clash against ninth-place Chelsea at Craven Cottage.
