Kellier parts ways with Utah! - The J’can basketball player to switch universities
After only one season at the University of Utah, national basketball player Jordan Kellier will be seeking a new environment for next season.
The Calabar High School alumnus announced yesterday that he would enter the NCAA transfer portal, ending his one-year stay at the campus where he made limited minutes for the Utah Utes this season. They missed out on a place in the upcoming NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament after being eliminated in the PAC 12 tournament and finished eighth in the conference with an overall 12-13 record.
Appreciate everything
Kellier took to Twitter to thank Utah for the opportunity of the experience of the past year.
"Sometimes in life the first stop isn't the right stop. Firstly, I want to thank Utah for recruiting me. I appreciate everything you guys have done for me and I want to thank the coaching staff and my beloved teammates for the lifelong lessons I learnt, it was a blast. However, with that being said, I will be reopening my recruitment by entering the transfer portal to find a new home. Thank you, Utah. It was a good run," Kellier said.
Utah recruited Kellier last July out of Williston State College in North Dakota where he started 19 of 21 games, posting five double-doubles and scoring 20 plus points in 10 games. However, he was used sparingly this season by Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak, only appearing in seven games all of them coming off the bench. His longest time on the floor was the 12 minutes he played in a December 18 blow-out win against the University of Idaho.
His final game for Utah was on March 6 against Arizona State University and did not make an appearance in the PAC-12 tournament.
According to the college transfer protocol, Utah has until today to enter Kellier name into the database where coaches can contact him to field offers.
