Cameron continues goal-scoring form in Hungary
National midfielder Tiffany Cameron is making a strong start in her second season in Hungary with her new team ETO Gyor.
The 29-year-old managed to score her second goal in three games so far in the new season as she played a key role in the 4-0 defeat of her old club Ferencvarosi in their league encounter last Saturday at ETO Park. With Gyor already leading 1-0, thanks to a 35th-minute strike from Adrienn Olah, Cameron doubled the lead in the 55th minute as she managed to cut inside the penalty area before unleashing a curling effort that found the bottom corner of the net.
Csilla Savanya and Boglarka Vida managed to add goals in the 90th and 91st minutes, respectively, for ETO Gyor's third straight win of the campaign as well as put the club in second place in the table with nine points, three points adrift from leaders MTK Hungaria FC with four matches played.
Cameron helped Ferencvarosi to a league and cup double last year with 11 goals and eight assists in 25 games. However, she made the move to Gyor on a two-year deal in order for her to find consistent minutes ahead of the upcoming Women's World Cup qualifying campaign which starts in November.
So far she has scored twice this season and has started in all four games for Gyor.
Meanwhile, national teammate Marlo Sweatman, who also plays in the Hungarian first division with Haladas Viktoria, managed a brace to rescue a 2-2 draw with Diosgyor last Saturday. Haladas are in third place with seven points, two points away from Gyor. The two Reggae Girlz are scheduled to face each other on October 15.
Until then, Gyor's next league fixture will be against Soroksar SC on Friday, while Haladas will face defending champions Ferencvarosi on Sunday.
