Molynes United's Jeremy Nelson has seen the club through the highs of their Jamaica Premier League (JPL) debut in 2019 to their continued struggles in the top flight. However, he said that the road to revival is possible with 11 games left in the regular season.

Nelson, the STAR Player of Week 10, had a goal and an assist in Molynes' 2-1 win over Humble Lion on Monday to see them register back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Nelson said that Molynes' winning run is just what they need to change the narrative surrounding the team.

"I have been here for quite a while at Molynes and it seems like this season is the right season for us (to make a charge up the table)," Nelson told THE WEEKEND STAR. "The Portmore United win motivated players to step up again, move forward, and not get complacent. Our aim is now is to try and get to the top six."

Play-off talk may seem premature given their history, but Nelson says that continued commitment by the players has given them a reason to believe as they enter the second half of the season.

"This new start for this round, the focus is to take it game by game because we have Harbour View this coming weekend and we are going for the three points," he said. "We have to continue our winning streak right now, then nothing will stop us. As the most senior player, I have to lead from the front and a lot of the responsibility, I have to take it up. So I have to continue to lead."

Aside from the responsibilities of the team, Nelson seeks to continue to set the example for his younger brother and teammate, Nicholas, who was called up to the national team for their final three World Cup qualifying games. Nelson said that seeing his brother get called even during a difficult patch for the team shows the quality that they have in the squad.

"It shows that Molynes are playing good football, but we are just not getting the wins," he said. "The national coaches see talent in the Molynes team and seeing somebody from the Molynes family getting called to the national team is [great]."
