Victorious Kingston College (KC) head coach Leaford Grant said that mission of claiming their 33rd title at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletic Championships (Champs) was not about vengeance, but continuing their standard of excellence.

KC amassed 372 points en route to their second title in four years on Saturday, dethroning Jamaica College, who finished runners up with 300.83 points. Calabar High was third with 170.

KC watched JC lift the title last year in the first Champs since the pandemic.

"We are not here to prove anything to any school," Grant told STAR Sports. "We focus on KC and try to win Champs every year for Kingston College, and our fans because our fans are very important."

Grant said that more preparation time for this year's Champs was a welcome boost.

"We had a lot of difficulties preparing the boys (in 2021)," he said. "This year, we had more time with them and this is the result. Once we have time with them, we will produce a positive result."

The title was also a moment to savour for Grant, who expressed pride in how the school now has three of the most coveted high school sports titles in the island in the same year after winning the Manning Cup and Olivier Shield titles in January.

While anticipating festive celebrations on North Street today, Grant said that he is already hoping to be part of another treble winning campaign for the school.

"It is a very special moment because we know we have three major trophies at KC, and, hopefully, we can defend all of them next year," he said.
