Aldridge aims to win trophies with switch to JC

If Jamaica College's Maquan Aldridge gets his wish one day he will be lacing up in the countless professional leagues around the world, just like his football idol Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United.

One of the traits that Aldridge has similar to his idol Ronaldo is his height and the wiry attacking player is hoping that his talents can take him to the big times one day.

Many would have first recognised Aldridge in last season's Manning Cup when he represented Kingston Technical High school, where he led them to the Walker Cup final, which they lost to St Catherine High.

After making the switch to JC this season, Aldridge is hoping to finally get his hands on some silverware.

"My aim is to win the Manning Cup with Jamaica College this season. I have been enjoying the move here as I see where my game has improved so far," said Aldridge.

Already the deceptive languid player has scored four goals this season, including a double against Cedar Grove Academy in their most recent encounter last Thursday.

The 18-year-old Aldridge, who is a fan favourite for the JC faithful, is focused on delivering for the school, which has allowed him to further his education and football ambitions.

"Every young player has the ambition to play professional football, but right now my focus is on helping JC to win trophies and that is exactly what we intend to do this season," he said.

Having represented Molynes United in last season's Jamaica Premier League (JPL), Aldridge is hoping to use his experience to help the Davion Ferguson-coached JC.

"Playing in the Premier League and playing Manning Cup, sometimes the levels are the same depending on the team you play. I want to continue to work hard and put out my all each game to help this team win," Aldridge said.
