Faulkland finally win a match

Gregory Palmer's return as head coach of Faulkland FC could not have come at a better time for the club as their winless start to the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) ended after 13 games.
Neil Clarke's 79th-minute winner was enough for Faulkland to be the last team this season to win a game, defeating fellow strugglers Chapelton Maroons 1-0 in their clash last night at Ashenheim Stadium.
The goal came against the run of play as Chapelton were left to rue several missed chances they had in the second half alone, in the battle of two bottom teams.
Palmer, the man who led Faulkand to promotion last season, was recalled to the fold after the dismissal of Leacroft Lettman, with them rooted to the bottom of the league.
Clarke highlighted their desperation in wanting to finally be rewarded after seeing victory slip away in past games.
"We were desperate to get our first win because some games that we played we should have won but didn't. So this is a great win for us," Clarke said.
Palmer said that the attitude that the players showed was deserving of the result having struggled all season so far.
"Kudos to the players because they really played with heart, determination and spirit. They followed the instructions to the tee. We tried to break their lines, we tried to get behind Chapelton," Palmer said. "It's about getting the players back to a winning mentality and an attacking brand of football."
Chapelton head coach Clovis De Olivera said previously that he recognises the task he has in turning around the fortunes of the club.
While not pleased that he begins his reign with a defeat, he remains positive of their chances to improve while cognisant of the work that lies ahead.
"We are going to keep working hard. We got some players with some experience but the loss is not going to turn us down. We realise that we have a lot of work to do and we are going to do it," De Olivera said.
Faulkland move to six points and remain in 13th place while Chapelton are rooted to the bottom on three points with the first round completed.
