Brissett emerges Spanish Town master in SV Domino competition

Garfield Brissett was the last man standing following five rounds of pulsating action in the Supreme Ventures Masters Domino Series at Maggie's Sports Bar in Spanish Town on the weekend.

The event in the Old Capital, the second stop in the islandwide tour to determine the island's best 'cutthroat' domino player, followed an exciting opening contest in Montego Bay.

Brissett claimed the top prize of $150,000 after triumphing over more than 120 competitors, including second-place finisher Jeneard Williamson, who went home with $100,000. Natalie Wright and Collin Powell secured third and fourth place, respectively, and in the process won for themselves $75,000 and $50,000.

It was a welcomed joy to claim the top spot in Spanish Town for Brissett, who was also excited that he will get the chance to go on to the national final in June.

"I feel delighted about this tournament and even more excited about being Spanish Town's champion. It is a joy to compete amongst so many talented players, and I cannot wait to go up against Jamaica's best at the final and claim my spot as Jamaica's national domino champion," said Brissett.

A beaming Dwayne Tulloch, SVP of Retail and Customer Operations of the title sponsors, shared that the turnout and support for just the second staging have made him proud and enthused about what is to come.

"This leg of the tournament delivered some fantastic domino action, with the turnout even bigger than the one that kicked off the series. We're happy that the excitement is growing as the series progresses.

I'm looking forward to an even bigger turnout at the next tournament, where we continue to allow every domino player to vie for a chance at becoming the national domino champion."

The tournament's next stop will be at the Smart Choice Jerk Centre, Negril, April 23.
