Greater Portmore stay perfect in the JEP league

Greater Portmore made it two wins from as many games as action continued over the weekend in the Jamaica Energy Partners St Catherine cricket league.

Greater Portmore are the leaders of Zone B on 10 points following their four-wicket win over Correctional Services in their 40-over per encounter at Prison Oval.

Correctional Service were restricted to 113, with Odane Vassell bagging an incredible nine wickets for 30 runs. Maurice Harrow top scored for them with 33.

In reply, Fitzroy Tait hit an unbeaten 24 to lead Greater Portmore to 116 for six, despite four wickets for 47 runs from Alwayne Francis.

In another Zone B game, Victorian Eagles secured their first win, following their opening round loss, as they got the better of Angels by 65 runs.

Eagles posted 222, with Kashane Roberts getting 57 and Rushane Bird 54, against five wickets for 68 runs for Gareth Holmes. National player Javelle Glenn bagged six wickets for 35 runs to restrict Angels to 157, despite 51 not out from Edward Miller.

At Green Acres, Packers defeated Bartley's XI by 65 runs with Packers, putting up 256 for eight in their 40 overs and restricting Bartley's XI to 191.

Phillip Hylton made an even 100 and Albert Rose 90 for Packers, while Kedar Brown fell two runs short of a century for Bartley's XI. Tomas Howell took six for 21 for Packers while Rose took four for 58, including a hat-trick.

In Zone A, Old Harbour joined Basement, Paul Mountain and Phoenix Park on five points.

At Port Esquivel, Old Harbour defeated Braeton by 87 runs, with Old Harbour posting 189, of which Rohan Francis made 36. Ramone Francis took three wickets for 16 runs to restrict Braeton to 102, with Elvoy Bennett making 45.

At St Catherine High School, Paul Mountain secured a 49-run win over Phoenix Park. Romaine Naire scored 110 for Paul Mountain in their total of 213, with Kimani Morgan bagging four wickets for 38 runs.

Zahir Brown took six for 36 to restrict Phoenix Park to 164, as Kyle Rudolph made 70.

Meanwhile, Basement got the better of Slazenger by six wickets in their encounter at Windalco Sports Club.

Slazenger made 128, with Kensington CC all-rounder Jamie Hay bagging three wickets for 44 runs. Hay returned to hit an unbeaten 51 that carried Basement to 132 for four.
