Senior stars for Greater Portmore in JEP 40-over cricket

Led by a brilliant century from former National youth player Ramon Senior, Greater Portmore chalked up their fourth win in the Jamaica Energy Partners (JEP) St Catherine 40-over league following round five action last weekend.

Over in Zone B, Greater Portmore made light work of Angels at the Bridgeport field following a mammoth 172-run win.

The right-handed Senior stroked 102 in leading Greater Portmore to 262 for five on their allotted 40 overs with Senior getting good support from Oniel Wright who made 92.

In reply, Angels were skittled out for just 90, despite 48 not out from Joel James. Schoolboy Milton Luckain took five wickets for 18 runs with Odane Vassell grabbing three wickets for 47 runs. The win sees Greater Portmore atop the standings with 20 points.

In the other Zone B fixture, Victorian Eagles chalked up their third win of the campaign following an 84-run win over Correctional Services at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.

The Eagles first posted 149 all out with schoolboy Sherwayne Thomas leading the scoring with 60 against four wickets for 18 runs from Amoi Campbell and three wickets for Alwayne Francis.

The Correctional Services, in reply, could only manage to get 65, with national all-rounder Javelle Glenn bagging five wickets for 10 runs and Thomas coming back with the ball to take three wickets for 13 runs. The win pushed the Eagles to third place in Zone 'B' with 15 points.

Over in Zone 'A' Basement secured their third win in as many games to move to second position following a 138-run win over Paul Mountain at Windalco.

Basement posted 271 for eight in their 40 overs with Kensington CC all-rounder Jamie Hay scoring 102 and Anthony McLean getting 75. Shavanie Spaulding took four wickets for 43 runs for Paul Mountain who were dismissed for 143 with schoolboy Andrew Lloyd bagging six wickets for 15 runs.

Over at St. Catherine High School, Phoenix Park had a huge 241-run win over Slazenger. Phoenix Park first piled up 335 for seven in 40 overs with National batsman Carlos Brown scoring an unbeaten 187. Dwayne Boines took five wickets for 109 runs for Slazenger who responded with just 94 runs in their reply.
