The Social Development Commission (SDC) Cal's sponsored National Twenty20 (T20) Community cricket competition is set to get into the business end, with all parish finals on Sunday, with the winners getting the opportunity to represent their parish and community in the national phase of the competition.

During the parish phase of the competition, the parish champions will receive $120,000, the first runners-up $60,000, and the second runners-up $30,000.

Last Sunday, the parish of Westmorland took centre stage, with Whitehouse and Orange Hill booking their place in the parish final.

In the opening fixture at Paradise Cricket Ground, Whitehouse defeated Content by 109 runs. Whitehouse first posted 174 for four in their reduced allotted 16 overs, with former national youth captain Ziggy Levy scoring an unbeaten 100.

West Indies Test vice-captain Jermaine Blackwood, opening the innings, made just 10 while national batsman Kennar Lewis was only able to get 14, against two wickets for Donavan McDonald.

Lewis returned with the ball to bag four wickets for eight runs from two overs to help restrict Content to 65 in 14 overs. Anthony Mitchell chipped in with two wickets for 14 runs.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Orange Hill made light work of Petersville with a six-wicket win.

Petersville were first blown away for just 57 runs in 17 overs, with Aldane Samuels bagging five wickets for 11 runs. Marlon Wright tried to play a fighting hand by scoring 22, but the runs were not enough as Orange Hill got to 58 for four in 12 overs.

Samuels returned to hit an unbeaten 24 while Jovian Stora scored 19 not out. Rohan Moxam and Wright took two wickets each.

In the meantime, the SDC train will roll into Swift River in Portland on Sunday, with the parish final, set for 2 p.m., featuring Buff Bay United and Port Antonio Fire.

The third place play-off will be between Cheptowe and Swift River starting at 10 a.m.
