St Mary will have new representation in this year's Social Development Commission (SDC) Cal's sponsored National Community T20 competition as Highgate got the better of 2019 SDC champions Gayle by 17 runs in the parish final, played at Boscobel on Sunday.

Highgate put up a decent total by scoring 169 for nine in their allotted 20 overs, with Antony McLean top scoring with 77 against five wickets for 39 runs from four overs from Jermaine Chisholm and three wickets for 33 runs from Sheldon Pryce.

Renar Ross was in sparkling form with the ball for Highgate, as he bagged four wickets for eight runs from four overs to restrict Gayle to 152 for seven in 20 overs, despite 40 from Ellando Robinson.

In Portland, Buff Bay United eased their way into the national phase of the competition following a nine-wicket win over Port Antonio Fire in their encounter at Swift River.

Port Antonio Fire posted 133 for eight, with Robert Weir top-scoring with 46 against three wickets for Cion Jolly. Lyrone Tyrell then hit an even 50 to guide Buff Bay United to 134 for one in 15 overs.

Rain played havoc with the Westmoreland final as Whitehouse emerged winners over Orange Hill by the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern method.

Whitehouse made 111 for seven in their 20 overs, with former national youth player Ziggy Levy scoring 20 not out and West Indies Test vice-captain Jermaine Blackwood making 14 against three wickets for Rushane Gayle.

Orange Hill were 46 for five in the 11th over when rain ended the contest. Blackwood had picked up three wickets before the showers.

Links United will represent St Ann as they made light work of Content Garden, winning by 64 runs in the final played at the Ultimate Sports Complex.

Othneal Pennant top scored with 35 in a score of 178 for six for Links United, despite three wickets for 17 runs from Christopher Lamont.

National player Tevin Gilzene then bagged three wickets for 11 runs to restrict Content Garden to 114 for nine.

Elsewhere, Orange emerged as St James parish champions following a seven-wicket win over Rosemount at Watson Town in Dumfries.

Rosemount first made 122 for eight in their 20 overs, after which Orange replied with 123 for three in 13.2 overs.

The parish finals for Clarendon, St Catherine, Manchester and St Elizabeth will be played this weekend before the national phase of the competition bowls off on July 2.
