IN A bid to strengthen their attack defending Jamaica Premier League (JPL) champions Mount Pleasant secured the signature of top goal scorer Shaquille Bradford from Harbour View during the current transfer window.

It took only three games for the 23-year-old to get off the mark as he was on the score sheet as the Theodore Whitmore-coached team defeated Dunbeholden 2-1 on Sunday. Bradford stated that his first two games were tough as he is still trying to understand the movement of his new teammates.

"It's always a good feeling to score your first goal for a club especially in front of the fans whom I love. The first two games were tough and it took me a while to know the players and understand how they played. I was happy for the victory and the goal," he stated.

The former Camperdown High school standout has lauded the professional environment he's seen at the St Ann-based club as he explained that players go through an extensive preparation phase which enables them to be in top shape on match days.

"I feel welcomed at the club, I think that they're very professional and I would also say that the club has an overseas mentality in terms of the training, team talk and helping you with the correct meals to prepare you for games. Mount Pleasant also has a good preparation system to check your fat level and to see if you're mentality and physically ready for a game day," he added.

Mount Pleasant remain atop the standings after 16 matches with 35 points and according to the young striker one thing that has pleased him the most since his arrival is the players' ability to carry out the instructions of the coaching staff.

"One thing about this club is that players carry out instructions very well. In the previous two games the coaching staff had asked for a goal in the first 10 minutes and against Treasure Beach we scored in 32 seconds and then on Sunday against Dunbeholden we scored by the second minute. I love this about the team to know that whatever the coach wants on the pitch we can carry it out," he shared.

Bradford also revealed that he'll be looking to surpass the 15-goal barrier for his new club this season.

"I'll be looking at scoring 15 or more goals this season. That is always good for a player because you can't be a striker and say that you're just going to score some goals. You have to set a target and work towards it," he said.
