Patrina Chisholm was a dominating presence on the court for Heroes Circle-based Wolmer's Girls' School, as she helped them to defeat Hillel High in the ISSA Under-19 schoolgirls volleyball final on Thursday at the UWI Gymnasium.

According to Chisholm, winning the title is the reward for Wolmer's girls' hard work.

"It was amazing because we have been working for this as we wanted to come out and dominate. We didn't play as we wanted to, but it was a good win," she stated.

Wolmer's won the first set 25-22, but lost the following two sets, only to lean on the shoulders of Chisholm, who ensured they won the remaining sets en route to victory.

The talented player was voted the Most Valuable Player of the final. She admitted that while they had some jitters when they went down 2-1, they were confident of winning the title.

"We were a little nervous, but we had confidence in our skills as we trust each other on the court, and we play as one team, so we knew we would have come out victorious," she added.

Chisholm was that locked and focused, that she failed to immediately recognise that Wolmer's had won the deciding fifth set 15-7, as Hillel crumbled under the sustained pressure from the Oniel Ebanks-coached unit.

"Actually, I didn't realise that we had won, but when I realised, I was like 'finally everything thing that we were working towards came through' and I was just thanking God for the win," she reflected.

Chisholm aims to represent senior national girls shortly and has started the process of achieving her dream.

"I actually tried out for the national team, and I'm on the training team at the moment; however, I'm trying to push through and continue, so that I can represent the country and do well," Chisholm said.
