Sunshine Girl Shamera Sterling-Humphrey has become the first Suncorp Super Netball player to get to 300 intercepts.

Her ground-breaking achievement aided the Adelaide Thunderbirds to a record-breaking 68-43 semi-final win over the Melbourne Vixens on Saturday night.

The game was full of history making moments as this was the Thunderbirds' biggest winning margin over the Vixens and the largest by any team in Suncorp Super Netball semifinals history.

"It's our defensive pressure, we have some spectacular circle defenders, but I think all the way through the court we were very good today," Thunderbirds coach Tania Obst said in a Fox Sports interview.

The defensive backbone Sterling-Humphrey went into the game needing four intercepts to reach the 300 milestone and duly delivered just more than five minutes into the final quarter.

She would go on to finish the match with a massive eight rebounds and six deflections.

The Jamaican also nullified prolific Vixens and Diamonds shooter Sophie Garbin, who only managed to make seven of her 11 shots up to third quarter of the game.

"Today I woke up so happy so I knew it was going to be a good one," Sterling-Humphrey said in the Fox Sports interview.

"I feel like my game is definitely getting better, I just think that I can tidy up on a bit more and I can start finding new strengths," she added.

Also giving a good display on court was veteran Sunshine Girls shooter Romelda Aiken-George who converted 39 of her 44 shots.

The Thunderbirds advanced to the grand final in Adelaide while Vixens will host the winners of the second semifinal between West Coast Fever and Sunshine Coast Lightning in Perth.
