Dunbeholden FC’s coach Byjeon Thomas gesticulates while addressing his players during their Jamaica Premier League football match against Harbour View FC at Dunbeholden yesterday. Dunbeholden won 1-0.

Byjeon Thomas, head coach of Dunbeholden FC, explained that he was pleased with the performance of his team yesterday as they recorded their first victory of the season in the Jamaica Premier League, clipping Harbour View 1-0 at Dunbeholden Sports Complex.

"I'm happy for the boys because I've seen the work that they have put in and I'm happy that we got off the mark today. In terms of fitness, strength and belief, we are better now," he stated.

Dunbeholden entered the fixture having conceded 11 goals in four games and Thomas added that getting a 'clean sheet' was top priority on the day.

"I was extremely happy as I could see that they wanted a clean sheet. The team showed that they wanted to dominate and ahead of the next game we'll just rest and assess what we need to do going forward," he explained.

Dunbeholden opened their account in the 14th minute courtesy of a cracking right-footed strike from Leo Campbell ,which managed to sneak by Harbour View's custodian Romario Palma at the near post.

Harbour View were then gifted the chance to respond in the 19th minute, but defender Ajeanie Talbott, from point blank range, sent his header wide of the mark.

The Stars of the East continued their press for the equaliser, and got an outstanding chance when they were awarded a penalty kick.

However, Oquassa Chong was denied by a superb save from Romaine Hamilton's outstretched arms.

While they continued to create chances, Harbour View's struggles to convert again manifested itself when Romario Gibbs, from inside the 18-yard box, skied his effort over the bar in the 39th minute.

The second half was a different storyline as Dunbeholden managed to suppress any meaningful build-up play from their opponents, while they tried to catch them on the counterattack. In the 84th minute, Dunbeholden's Campbell went in search of his second goal of the match, but was denied by Palma, who managed to guess the right direction.

The defeat was Harbour View's third in a row as they've now extended their winless streak to four games.
