Mount Pleasant Football Academy increased their lead at the top of the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) yesterday, following a 4-0 drubbing of Molynes United at Drax Hall.

Shaquile Bradford led the way with two goals, while Raheem Edwards and Nicholas Nelson got the others.

The win pushed Mount Pleasant to 25 points, three ahead of Waterhouse, and four more than Montego Bay United FC and Arnett Gardens FC.

Waterhouse will play Arnett tonight at Drewsland Mini-Stadium, while MoBay United's fixture that was slated for this week was postponed because their opponents, Cavalier SC, are involved in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup final.

In yesterday's Mount Pleasant-Molynes United game, Kimonie Bailey, Edwards and Daniel Green (penalty) came close to giving Mount Pleasant the lead but they all failed to take their chances.

Edwards would eventually break the deadlock, when he slotted home a Devonte Campbell pass from the edge of the box, netting his fourth goal in as many games.

Bradford made it 2-0 in the 66th minute, sweeping home a rebound, that had suspicions of offside, before redirecting a pass from Jahmari Nolan to make it 3-0.

Nelson then fired home from the penalty spot seven minutes from time to seal the win.

Mount Pleasant head coach Theodore Whitmore said they took some time to get going.

"We were a bit flat in the first half. We dropped the intensity. In the second half we were more like a Mount Pleasant, we were winning the first balls and winning the second balls and we played (the ball) around and started to get goals," he commented.

Molynes United head coach Jermaine Thomas said his team didn't handle the disappointment of the second goal (that appeared offside), very well, and fell apart after that.

"Second half we conceded early. The second one (goal), the players didn't handle it well, psychologically," Thomas remarked.

"(Whether) the referee made a mistake or not, it looked offside to me, but you are going to get some of these some days and we just never dealt with it properly," he argued.

"We stopped when we conceded the second goal and it was problem after," he said.

The result means Molynes, on 10 points, dropped one place to 13th. They remain one point outside the drop zone.

At Dunbeholden Sports Complex: The home team came from two goals down to hold Portmore to a 3-3 draw in a six-goal thriller.

Tarick Ximinese fired the visitors ahead after 17 minutes and Nickoy Gayle made it 2-0 in the 49th. Chantomoi Taylor made it 2-1 in the 61st minute, but Emelio Rousseau restored Portmore's two-goal cushion in the 72nd minute.

However, Shaken Powell's 76th-minute strike and former Portmore player Chevoy Watkin netted in added time to secure a point for the Byjeon Thomas-coached team.

Portmore stayed fifth in the table, but join Arnett Gardens and MoBay United on 21 points. Dunbeholden remain seventh on 14 points.

Meanwhile, Tivoli jumped two places to eighth after beating Chapelton Maroons 3-2 at the Anthony Spaulding Complex, registering back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Nickalia Fuller (11th) and Kavan Wilson (34th) put Tivoli 2-0 up. But Levaughn Williams pulled a goal back in the 38th minute and Jahvon James tied the game with a second goal on the hour.

However, Tivoli would steal all three points, thanks to Shaquille Jones' well taken free kick at the 68th minute.

Chapelton stayed in the relegation zone on nine points, the same as Vere-Phoenix United.

At Effortville Community Centre: Racing United and Humble Lion battled to a 1-1 draw.

Nickyle Ellis fired the visitors ahead after 47 minutes, but Roshane Sharpe secured a point for Donovan Duckie's team with a goal in the 58th minute.

Racing are ninth with 12 points, while Humble Lion are 11th on 10 points.
