Three-time champions of the National Basketball League (NBL) St George's Slayers will look to add another silverware in their trophy cabinet in the upcoming league, which tips off next month.

"We are very eager to get back to winning ways because we're used to winning. It's either we're in the final or we're the champions," said Rohan Robinson, head coach of the team.

St George's Slayers were ousted at the semi-final stage last season by beaten finalists Upper Room Eagles. While they have had minor setbacks, Robinson, who is part of the national coaching setup, says the team has been ramping up its preparation in the past few weeks.

"Preparation has been difficult, especially for me due to my national duties. However, the team has been doing well without me despite the setback," he stated.

As for the complement of the team, Robinson shared that he's hopeful his veteran players can lead from the front and guide the younger players throughout the season.

"While we don't have the perfect balance of youth and experience we have some experienced players who are currently overseas. We know it's going to be a challenge but we're trying our best to cope and we're bargaining on our experienced players," he added.

Robinson revealed that one of the team's biggest assets will be their transition play.

"We will definitely have some speed in transition so that will be our real strength," Robinson shared.

Urban Knights are defending champions of the NBL, which will consist of 10 teams.
