West Indies trio stars for Knight Riders

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates:

The West Indies trio of Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers and Andre Russell all made significant contributions to help the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders trounce the Sharjah Warriors by 30 runs when the International League T20 (ILT20) continued yesterday.

After being sent in to bat, the Warriors made 159 for five from their 20 overs, with Mayers scoring 21 from just nine balls at the top of the order, while Russell smashed an unbeaten 24 runs from 12 balls at the depth.

Russell shared an unbroken 50-run partnership with Laurie Evans, who scored 39 not out, after they were floundering on 109 for five in the 16th over.

Holder then delivered an excellent spell, grabbing 4-23 from his four overs as the Warriors were dismissed for 129 in 19.3 overs.

Mayers also returned to grab 2-16, while David Willey took 3-19.

Keemo Paul scored 21 and Johnson Charles made 12 at the top of the order in a losing cause for the Warriors.
