You Look Ok only Reggae 6 stunner

January 27, 2025

YOU LOOK OK yesterday reversed almost 18 lengths on 4-5 favourite MEDAL AWARD, winning the fifth event at odds of 22-1, resulting in 96 winning Reggae 6 bets on mandatory-payout day.

Surviving bets were rescued by 7-5 favourite, EQUINOX in the sixth for a payout of $277,276 from the net pool of $26.6 million.

Outsped, next-to-last, behind CLOWNING AROUND and runner-up MEDAL AWARD, in a similar maiden event for four-year-olds at five furlongs straight on December 28, YOU LOOK OK raced clear in the four-furlong straight event, never in danger of defeat under claiming rider Richard Henry.

EMPRESSINTHEBREEZE and MEDAL AWARD were left battling for second-money, alongside LADY KATGHARA in a three-way photo.

YOU LOOK OK was the only real stunner on the Reggae 6, which opened with even-money favourite DRONE STRIKE predictably beating optional $350,000 claimers at six and a half furlongs for back-to-back wins.

BRENDA BOY collaring favourite TITAN TEMPO in the second, one of two winners for champion jockey Raddesh Roman, was no real shocker, nor REGNANT as an even-money winner in the fourth.

However, YOU LOOK OK's stunner again proved the dangers of banking maidens, especially in blink sprints.

Meanwhile, Panamanian Ismael Velasquez completed a weekend sweep of trophy races at Caymanas Park, rallying even-money favourite GEOLITHIC to beat fellow American SHE'S A GODGIFT by a length and a quarter in the Bonnie Blue Flag Trophy.

Velasquez, who made all aboard United States-bred PACK PLAYS in Saturday's Eileen Cliggott Memorial at five and a half furlongs, similarly used GEOLITHIC's speed to run rivals into the ground at seven and a half furlongs.

Breaking sharply from post-position nine in the 12-horse line-up, GEOLITHIC needed minimal urging to clear the field and claim the rail after the first two furlongs.

Flashing past the half-mile marker on her bridle, five-year-old GEOLITHIC raced clear of SHE'S A GODGIFT, previously a tearaway sprinter, since tempered by removal of her visor.

Still in command coming off the home turn, GEOLITHIC drifted right a furlong and a half out, losing ground to SHE'S A GODGIFT, who was switched inside to launch a menacing challenge inside the final furlongs.

However, straightened by Velasquez, GEOLITHIC responded by lengthening strides close home to actually win going away from SHE'S A GODGIFT, notching her fourth win from 14 starts, a victory which graduated her to overnight-allowance winners.

Roman closed his two-timer aboard SENSATIONAL SOUL in the seventh among three-year-old maidens for trainer Gary Subratie, who earlier posted LINSTEAD MARKET as a winner among four-year-old maidens at five and a half furlongs.

Racing continues on Saturday.
