Taylor Hinds makes return to Arsenal
Having left Arsenal in 2018 an inexperienced teenager, Jamaican international Taylor Hinds makes her return to the North London club now as an experienced leader following the end of her contract with her former club Liverpool.
Hinds penned a new deal with the reigning UEFA Women's Champions League (UWCL) winners in a move which sees her making a return to her old stomping ground, seven years after her initial departure.
Speaking in her first interview with the club, Hinds was happy to return to the place that she had once called home.
"This is a full-circle moment for me, and I'm grateful to come back to a place I called home when I was younger. I can't wait to get started and to step out on the pitch at Emirates Stadium in front of all our incredible supporters," she explained.
For Hinds, the move also stands as a major step in her career, as she explained that she returned to Arsenal to help the team fight for additional silverware.
The Gunners won their second UWCL title at the end of last season, defeating Barcelona 1-0 in the final.
They also stand as one of the most successful teams in England, claiming 15 national titles, three of which came in the Women's Super League (WSL) era.
"I want to push, compete and be winning trophies and this club encompasses all of that, both on and off the pitch. You can see what direction Arsenal are going in and everyone at the club wants to win," Hinds said.
"I'm so proud to have signed for Arsenal."
Renee Slegers, head coach for Arsenal, believes Hinds brings with her the strength of a leader for the team's backline.
She is confident the defender will boost the team's chances of yet another successful season for the North London club.
"We're delighted to welcome Taylor back to Arsenal. She's a versatile player who has great experience from multiple seasons in the WSL with Liverpool, where she took on a leadership role," Slegers said.
"I'm excited to get started with Taylor on the training pitch, and I'm sure our supporters will join me in welcoming her back to the club."
