Ungrateful friend won’t repay her loan
Dear Pastor,
I am 29 years old and I am writing about a very ungrateful friend. She came to Kingston with just a bag and a few things in it. She didn't have any money, my husband and I decided to try and help her. She didn't even have on decent underwear. I had to let her use mine. I couldn't tell my husband that because a woman should not tell her man everything.
My husband is a businessman and he employed her in his business. She got involved with one of the customers. It seems to us that the relationship was genuine. She is 25 years old and the man is 35 years old. When she was leaving I gave her two sets of sheets. Her boyfriend rented a little place, but then he lost his job and couldn't pay the rent. By then she was working at another place. She came back to us and asked us for a loan.
My husband gave her a loan of $20,000, but she wanted $30,000. She told us that she would pay us back in six months. It has been over one year now. I called her and asked her about the money. She said she didn't have it and we were in a better position than her, so we should wait until she has it to give us back. Now she doesn't call us at all. I consider her to be very ungrateful. My husband is threatening to take her to court for his money, but I have been telling him not to bother with her, she will fall on her face. I cannot believe that this girl is a thief.

Dear E.,
I hope that you and your husband will continue to help folks who are in need and that you will not allow what this girl has done to you to cause you to stop. She is indeed very ungrateful, and I will also add that she is very rude. That is not the way to talk to people who have helped you. I hope that she intends to pay you back.
She is behaving like a fool. She should be grateful for the help you have given to her and should cherish your friendship, because it is likely that she will need you again. Your husband is correct. She should be taken to court to teach her a lesson. I hope that your husband can prove that she indeed borrowed the money.
Pastor
