Jamaicans are well aware of his support for Vybz Kartel's 'Gaza', but on Wednesday, persons saw sprint king Usain Bolt throwing his support behind another Jamaican artiste, Jah Cure.

Bolt made a post to his Instagram page and sought to drum up support from his 2.1 million followers for Jah Cure, encouraging his fans to go and purchase the singer's album.

He also told them to vote for the singer in this year's Best Reggae Album category at Grammy's although the winner will not be decided by public vote. The post was accompanied by a photo of Bolt and Cure holding a copy of the singer's Grammy-nominated album, The Cure.

The Grammy award is an accolade by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) of the United States to recognise outstanding achievement in the music industry. Voting is usually done by the NARAS voting members.

controversy

Unlike in recent weeks where Bolt's actions within the music space have sparked controversy, Bolt's fans welcomed the post and praised the athlete for the move, stating that it was good to see him supporting the entertainer.

"Jamaican Legends! Thanks for supporting @therealjahcure @usainbolt," one user posted.

"Good to see ya supporting good music," said another.

Jah Cure is among four Jamaicans nominated in the Best Reggae Album category for the 2016 Grammy awards. Barrington Levy, Luciano and Morgan Heritage are the other Jamaican nominees in the category. All four entertainers are first-time nominees.
