Gospel concert for Lionel town

December 30, 2015

Lionel Town, Clarendon, will be ringing in the New Year in peace as it gears up to host a day of activities on New Year's Eve.

Community members are being invited to come out and support the day's activities which begins with a peace march tomorrow morning.

Organiser, Romaine Brooks, told The STAR that he came up with the idea in an effort to bring back unity and togetherness in the community.

"These days, we need all the love and togetherness we can get, and I thought, what better way to do it than with a day of peaceful activities," he said, explaining that the march, which begins at 10 a.m., will also include the churches and politicians. The march starts at the Lionel Town Police Station and ends at Cawsey Park.

In addition to the march, there will be a fun day, where children will be treated to free rides. There will also be sporting activities such as basketball, football and netball.

Later in the evening, a gospel concert will be held at Cawsey Park featuring Kevin Downswell, Jabez, Jason Brown and Howard Brown. It stars at 9 p.m. Admission is $1,000. VIP is $1,500. Children under 12 are free.
