At least one dancehall artiste has voiced his opinion on the recent situation involving West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle and a female Australian reporter.

Mr Vegas took to social media to give his two cents on the matter and had to defend some of the statements he made as social media users went in on him for bashing Gayle.

In a video post made to his MV Corner on Facebook, Vegas did not defend Gayle and made it clear that he believed the cricketer's actions were inappropriate.

"I'm not going to sit here and chastise Chris Gayle because yuh dun know seh we a man and when a woman look good we ago wah seh supmn to her and flirt wid ar," he said. "But on all levels it was wrong. Here is why it wrong. She is in her workplace that is her space."

He said he is not a saint and might have done what Gayle did if the cameras were off before calling out those persons who have been defending the cricketer.

"Yuh know weh mi av a problem wit," he said. "The people dem weh a defend Chris Gayle and a say a nuh nuttin dat. Listen me people, yuh see when yuh love somebody and dem wrong yuh affi just tell dem say dem wrong, don't sugar-coat it because dat means yuh don't wish the person any good."

Although Vegas tried to keep his comments fair and balanced there were some social media users who disagreed with his reasoning.

"No he's not wrong, a man looking a woman could never be classified as being wrong, it might have been inappropriate for the moment but not wrong," one user commented.

"Boss you can't control what people say, you of all person shoulda know that. Was it ill-timing on his part, yes, but we don't need to slaughter him for it. I just find it strange that "others" don't see a big deal with it, but us," wrote another.

Vegas responded to the latter again trying to remain balanced. "No bredda I nah slaughter him! You have place and time for everything. I nah bash Gayle, I am just annoyed at people who think his actions were ok. I have sin so I can't throw no stones," he wrote.

Gayle was recently fined US$7,000 by the Australian Big Bash League organisers for inappropriate comments he made during a live interview.
