Dancehall artiste Nicko Blast is thanking his lucky stars after escaping a near-fatal car accident on Waterloo Road, St Andrew. The deejay was on his way to a performance when the incident occurred.

Nicko Blast, a member of Aidonia's 4th Genna/JOP label, is promoting his 27-track mixtape, Full Blast.

Nicko Blast said the dancehall scene is competitive and he is, therefore, working hard to make good music for all.

"The mixtape is a nice collection of songs. It has something on it for everyone, from the street-level gangsters to the corporate executives and, definitely, a few tracks for the ladies. "I've been embarking on an intense campaign to get the music out there, so people can know who Nicko Blast is. So far, the feedback has been tremendous and people have been very receptive to my work."

Though under the tutelage of Aidonia for only one year, Blast added that being a part of the JOP camp is a great opportunity.

"Aside from building team camaraderie and honing my skills, it allows me to learn a lot about the industry and how to overcome daily challenges faced by burgeoning acts," he stated.

Nicko Blast is also promoting his latest single, Dream.

"It has been getting great rotation on radio stations. People are saying this song has the potential to take over the place. I also think this song can put me on a different level, career wise," he told THE STAR.
