Exciting performances at first Magnum live show
The first live show for the 10th season of the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall kicked off last Saturday at D'Entrance, on Constant Spring Road.
The 14 contestants from the Castle Red group were unveiled to the almost-packed venue.
Resident disc jockey Randy Rich had the crowd rocking before the performances.
Clarendon native, Lady Caliba, kicked off the show withb Dah Body Deh. The 'prince from Ocho Rios', Symatic, introduced himself to Jamaica with Bad Gyal Wine.
Bad Gal Bambi with Gone Ah Lead impressed judge Skatta Burrell with her stage craft and delivery.
Kaama of Harbour View told a narration of the "material girl." Miss Kitty complimented his song concept and said his now second time on the programme showed that he had all the right ingredients for success.
Dexii reminded Professor Nuts of Papa San with her quick fire delivery of Bruk Man, while Tyshawn gave a soulful tribute with Miss You.
Negril-based Aksana had a good chorus for her song See Dah Body Yah, but Skatta felt that she was off-key for most of the performance.
Check proved to be a crowd pleaser for Della Rhymezzz from May Pen. His rhythm choice garnered a 'rugguh' from Professor Nuts.
Shalanda from Central Village sang that she Neva Trust Friend. Tatik's On My Way struck a chord with the audience as he told poverty "goodbye."
"I love see when di man dem come up with songs like these. I feel the hope, optimism, and feel enthusiastic about life when I hear this song," Skatta told the 25-year-old.
Dynamic female
Rankin Pumpkin, who hails from Kobe, Japan, had the patrons singing her chorus for Never Trust Inna Babylon.
Newcomer Rally Banks also captured the audience also with his performance.
Sugar Daddy from Keke and Frenchy had Miss Kitty declaring that energetic dynamic female duo gave a Captain Barkey and Wickerman vibe.
Closing the show was Negril native Crazy Nacka with Wine Pon Di Nacka.
For the first on the fashion showcase, Sharna Kay Livingston of Linique Couture presented a leather line that featured asymmetrical dresses and coats in white and tan.
