Samory I, Rory Stone Love in fourth with 'Black Gold'

Occasionally - very occasionally - an album tops the Bob Marley and the Wailer's 'Legend' pair (remastered and deluxe editions) at the apex of the top-selling iTunes reggae albums. When that happens, in short order, the balance of the music world is righted and the Tuff Gong and his band are back on top again.

For now, though, Chronixx's Chronology is bucking the trend and remains at number one, the place it has occupied since last week's release. It is a good week for new releases by a next generation of Jamaican performers, as the Black Gold set, produced by Rory Stone Love, featuring Samory I on vocals, is fourth.

The placing means that Chronixx has joined the ranks of artistes with more than one set in the upper section of the iTunes listing, as his Dread & Terrible EP is in the 13th position.

After that, it is some familiar albums in some vaguely familiar places. Rebelution's Falling Into Place is at six, the bonus-track version of Damian Marley and Nas' Distant Relatives is seventh, Rebelution's Courage to Grow is eighth, Bob Marley and the Wailers' Exodus (remastered) is ninth and Iration's Time Bomb is ninth.

The new set, Romantic Flava Vol 5., is another new entry at number 22. Among the artistes tackling the enduring tic of man and woman business are Gyptian (Let's Have Some Fun), Ed Robinson (Stir it Up) and Etana (Little Thing Called Love). There are also dub cuts of Love Story (Beres Hammond), No Escape (Jah Cure) and Your Eyes (Wayne Wonder).

Dexta Daps' Intro holds the number 39 position. The Top Strikers compilation has cover art with Kartel and Alkaline and features not only them, but also Mavado (Fresh Cash), Aidonia (No Man to Mi Spliff), and Feeling High (Vershon).
