Overseas-based dancehall artiste Hood Celebrityy is gearing up to make her first appearance as a performer in Jamaica.

Since getting her big break in the music industry, the entertainer has gained a huge following on the local scene, and her song, Walking Trophy, has become a dancehall anthem.

The Jamaica-born artiste is expected to perform at an event, Tease, on June 24.

The event is set for Sugarman's Beach in Portmore. Event promoter and artiste manager Michael Wilson said that Hood Celebrity is one of the hottest dancehall artistes in the US.

"Males and females alike like her music. She is one of the few overseas-based deejays to dominate the music scene, so this is history in the making, and Tease will be the first to bring her to Jamaica," he said.

Wilson said that the performance is one patrons can look forward to.

"Walking Trophy charted on the New York-based Power 105 hip-hop chart, and this is the first dancehall song to do this in a long time. That chart only has on rappers like Cardi B, A$AP Rocky, G Easy and dem people deh. So trust me, this is no normal artiste," he said.

SEVEN MILLION VIEWS

Walking Trophy currently has more than seven million views on YouTube, collectively. Hood Celebrityy also followed up the effort with another popular record, Island Girls, which features popular rapper Cardi B.

Tease will also feature other acts such as Starboyz, Ricman, ZJ Liquid, Jodi Couture, DJ Shampoo, Kayoz, Weed Seed, and Maria Jade.

"Tease only does the hottest, and we are feeling Hood Celebrityy's vibe. When you go to events and see how people react to her music, it is amazing. People literally wait until the second verse of her song, and nowadays that is rare," he said.
