Live Eeeh turning heads with unique name
Dancehall artiste Live Eeeh raises many eyebrows with his colourful name whenever he appears at a stage show.
"People find my name - 'Live Eeeh' - funny or weird because it just different, but after dem hear mi perform, the name make sense," said the artiste. "I make sure that everything I do 'live-ee' (lively) - full of expression, energy, excitement, movement and passion. I use my music to identify wrongdoing and promote what is edifying and morally right."
He usually sticks to themes of national pride, anti-colonialism, injustice, romance and public education on critical national issues. He currently resides in Montreal, Canada, but he is generating some online buzz with the single Civil War, produced by Wettas Production, which addresses the growing crime infestation and gang activity that threaten several Caribbean societies.
Live Eeeh, through his witty delivery and child-friendly music, seeks to elevate minds and change hearts. A recent release, Pretty Pretty Jamaica, speaks to issues like corruption that are negatively affecting the development of the country, and in Hand to Mouth, he promises to be a voice for the downtrodden and marginalised.
"We have to reach the minds of the youths and protect our society. mi ah do my part to make sure everything 'live eeeh'," he said.
Born Henry Thompson, he hails from St Mary, the birthplace of many of the country's top artistes, such as Capleton, Sizzla and Tanya Stephens.
He attended the Mt Regale Primary and Richmond Technical High schools. It was during his secondary educational pursuits that an interest in music blossomed while watching his brother playing the guitar and singing at school events.
